 New to Ascension?

Here's what "Ascension Turns 50" is all about:

As we approach the 50th anniversary of Ascension, it is time to begin planning for the remodeling and modernizing of the church building.

The Work of the People

In 1964 our parish, to be called Ascension, was commissioned on a 13-acre prune orchard. The work of the people transformed a drying shed into the initial worship space, and the first Mass was held in October. Construction began on our church building shortly thereafter and was completed and dedicated in June 1967.

For 2014, our 50th anniversary, Fr. Joe calls on us again to apply the work of the people, by bringing our vision for modernizing and remodeling our present worship space. We call this project, Ascension Turns 50 - Modernizing the Church  Building.

Modernizing the Church Building

The goal is to complete the initial phases of the remodeling by our anniversary in 2014.  The first phase of this project, then, is to establish a plan. We shall begin by gathering ideas, suggestions, and possibilities from you.

We ask everyone to participate.

With all inputs in by November, this will lead to a preliminary plan by January 2010. This will then be followed by a series of town hall meetings with all parishioners invited to review the ideas, and to select and prioritize the changes we want to complete by 2014.
